Job Summary
Direct and supervise the planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of solar photovoltaic construction, including electrical and civil components, in accordance with plans, specifications, and codes. Plan and coordinate craft workers to accomplish work safely, correctly, and efficiently. Conduct toolbox meetings, implement safety measures, and lead all safety processes to ensure zero injuries. Create and execute weekly schedules, set crew goals, and complete daily timecards for correct hours and phase coding. Monitor crews for heat-related injuries, inspect installations daily, and ensure equipment is maintained and inspected. Provide on-the-job training, perform performance reviews, and hold crews accountable for safe working behaviors. Walk and inspect installations to identify deficiencies, correct cost-saving measures, and ensure compliance with contract plans.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a supervisor
- Must have working experience as a Solar Technician
- Must have a strong working knowledge of the Solar Photovoltaic construction craft
- Must have knowledge of the assembly, installation, or maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for ground or roof installation
- Must set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity for the members of his/her crew
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Must have all necessary tools (see Solar Installer Tool List)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 52 pounds
- Must have full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties
- Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure
- Must be able to climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
- Must be able to work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions
- Must be able to work in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
