Job Summary
Shop Foreman to supervise the maintenance of tractors and chemical cargo trailers at our South Gate, CA terminal. Responsible for scheduling and overseeing preventive maintenance, ensuring safety compliance with OSHA and DOT standards, managing outside vendors, maintaining inventory of parts and tools, and supervising mechanics to meet terminal maintenance requirements within budget. Requires 2+ years in a shop leadership role, 5+ years in fleet maintenance, strong knowledge of diesel systems and DOT regulations, proficiency with maintenance data systems and Excel/Word, and HM-183 training. Full-time, on-site role with opportunity for growth across locations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; plus course work in auto and equipment mechanics at a trade school and six (6) years of experience as a mechanic, or any equivalent combination of education and experience (documentation required).
- Must possess at least 2+ years in a Shop leadership position
- Must possess at least 5+ years' industry experience in fleet maintenance
- Knowledge of diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Thorough knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance; DOT rules and regulations; company policies and procedures
- Competent computer skills (Microsoft Excel and Word) and familiarity with repair/purchase order systems
- Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software and maintenance management systems
- DOT HM-183 training required; ASE certification not required but highly recommended
- Welding experience a Plus (MIG, TIG, Plasma)
