Job Summary
Lead daily crew activities, conduct briefings, and delegate tasks based on capabilities while performing inspections and quality checks on completed work. Operate and maintain heavy equipment safely, execute basic repairs such as rail swaps and tamping, and monitor job site safety to enforce PPE and FRA compliance. Communicate with project managers to coordinate schedules, maintain accurate documentation, and respond to emergencies or equipment malfunctions. Train and mentor crew members to promote skill development and safety awareness.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 5 years' experience in the railroad industry/track maintenance
- minimum of 1 year of experience in a supervisory or management role
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to read blueprints and grade plans
- Knowledge of FRA regulations and track maintenance standards
- Proficient in basic computer applications
- Skilled in safe operation of tools and heavy equipment
- Professional demeanor, integrity, and reliability
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving job requirements
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
