Job Summary
Lead and supervise a team of technicians and shop staff, assigning tasks, setting priorities, and ensuring adherence to safety standards and company policies. Monitor the daily work schedule, review work orders, and coordinate with service advisors to assess customer needs and prioritize jobs. Provide guidance, coaching, and training to enhance technician skills, assist in performance evaluations, and document repairs for internal record-keeping and billing. Oversee shop equipment maintenance, inventory levels, and facility cleanliness while troubleshooting complex service issues. Ensure high-quality customer service by reviewing service results and resolving technical concerns. This role requires a strong background in repairing Class 7 and Class 8 vehicles with Paccar, Cummins, and Caterpillar, with experience in railroad construction being a plus. Day shift at Geis Dealer Group in Sedalia, MO, with potential for overtime or weekend work.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience in the automotive or mechanical repair field
- Prior supervisory experience, preferably in a service or repair shop environment
- Strong understanding of repair processes, mechanical diagnostics, and troubleshooting
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of shop equipment, tools, and safety practices
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools, repair software, and inventory management systems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and handle a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including bending, lifting, and standing for long periods
- Ability to work in various weather conditions (if working outdoors)
- Must be available for some overtime or weekend work depending on dealership need
Desired Qualifications
- Technical certification in diesel technology, mechanical, or related fields
- Completion of an apprenticeship or formal training program
- People with past experience in railroad construction
- Candidates must have an extensive background in repairing Class 7 and Class 8 vehicles with Paccar, Cummins, and Caterpillar
- CDL
- Paccar and Cummins certification
- English major
