Job Summary
Coordinate daily operations for Parks and Recreation facilities, including event execution, athletic field maintenance, and aquatic safety compliance. Lead specialized crew leaders for events, athletics, and aquatics to ensure high-level service delivery and state law adherence. Conduct regular playground inspections, manage debris removal, and perform hands-on maintenance across parks, roadsides, and athletic facilities. Develop and schedule work assignments while overseeing personnel actions such as hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary reviews. Approve purchases up to $1,000 and collaborate with the safety coordinator to implement the division safety program and present training.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) years of experience in park maintenance, forestry, horticulture, irrigation, or a related field
- Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or lead role
- Associate degree or certification in Horticulture, Forestry, irrigation, or a related field
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid driver's license
- Certification in pesticide application or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
- Three (3) years of experience in scheduling for landscape maintenance and/or building maintenance or approved equivalent
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience of work crews
- Experience with record keeping in related area
- Three (3) years of experience in landscape maintenance, general maintenance, painting, welding, scheduling
- Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or lead role
- Certified Playground Safety Inspector OR TCEQ Licensed Irrigator
- Texas class A CDL or approved equivalent
- Valid CDL
- TDA Applicators license
- Three (3) years of experience in Building Construction, Landscaping, or related field
- Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or lead role
- Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License, Certified Playground Inspector (CPI), or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Class B CDL - Preferred
- Experience in welding, construction, or carpentry
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Prior experience in building maintenance, painting ballfields or aquatics
