Job Summary
Teach Spanish and evaluate students using sound instructional practices that meet state standards and individual learning styles. Prepare clear lesson plans, manage the classroom with clear behavioral expectations, and utilize positive behavior support systems. Maintain accurate data on student interventions, complete educational documentation, and provide guidance to promote student welfare. Attend parent/teacher conferences, distribute assignments, and offer virtual or out-of-school field trips. Collaborate with colleagues, department leaders, and administrators to implement new practices and serve on committees. Act as a role model, supervise student teachers, and refer students suspected of learning difficulties to the intervention assistance team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university
- Less than one year related experience
- Appropriate State of Ohio certification/license
- Knowledge of academic area and various teaching methodologies
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Effective, active listening skills
- Organizational and problem solving skills
- Training in varied instructional designs
- Skills that foster and facilitate learning and classroom management
- Knowledge in child development and an understanding of age appropriate tasks
- Educational pedagogy
- Student/teacher professional relationship
- Technology skills eg. electronic grades, moodle
- Basic first aid
- Occasional evening/weekend/summer work
- Occasionally lift, carry, push and pull various items up to a maximum of 50 pounds, e.g., classroom materials and supplies
- Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, crouch, kneel, balance and stoop
- Possible requirement to travel
