Job Summary
Language Instructors (and related roles such as Testers, Raters, Distance Learning Mentors, Curriculum Specialists, and Digital Media Editors) sought to support the National Foreign Affairs Training Center via the International Center for Language Studies. Role involves teaching adult learners in ESL and a wide range of foreign languages, administering proficiency-based assessments (e.g., DLPT, ACTFL, OPI), and contributing to language education programs. Requirements include native or near-native proficiency in the target language, English proficiency at ILR 2/2 or higher, BA/BS/MA/MS/PhD or foreign equivalent degree, 3+ years of classroom teaching experience, cultural background relevant to the language, and basic computer skills for online instruction.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS, MA/MS, or PhD., or foreign equivalent degree(s) in any field
- Possesses the cultural background of the specific country or geographical region where the target language is spoken
- Experience teaching adult learners the target language in a classroom setting (preferably 3 or more years)
- Experience administering proficiency-based assessments (i.e., DLPT, ACTFL, OPI, etc.), preferably 1 year of experience
- Knowledge of basic computer skills: e.g., email, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with online meeting software (Zoom, Skype, MS Teams, and Webex).
