Job Summary
Foot and Ankle Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant provides medical care delegated by physicians with its own clinic schedule (2 days/week plus half-day admin) and outpatient foot-and-ankle call coverage. Responsibilities include assessing health status, performing histories and physicals, administering injections and medications, suturing wounds, triaging calls, responding to emergencies (CPR), assisting in surgeries, hospital rounds, after-hours coverage, and coordinating care with the health care team. Education requirements include MS preferred; licensing requirements include PA license and NCCPA certification; CPR and ACLS certification are required. Knowledge/skills include evaluating patient data, developing and revising care plans, and collaborating with the care team.
Required Qualifications
- Current state PA license
- Certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
- CPR and ACLS Certification
- Nurse Practitioner: Current Arizona license for Registered Nurse
- Current Arizona license for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- Certification by national certifying body as approved by the Arizona APRN Board
- NP requirement to act as first assist in the OR includes completion of a program that covers the content of the AORN Standards for RN First Assist education programs as a standalone program or a portion of a graduate or postgraduate program
- BA/BS, MS preferred for Physician Assistant
- Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program
