Job Summary
Prepare and serve nutritious meals in a friendly, efficient cafeteria while maintaining accurate paperwork. Assist in meal preparation, menu setup, and stocking serving lines with napkins, utensils, and condiments. Check daily assignments with the Kitchen Manager, verify food shipments, and determine daily food quantities. Serve students using appropriate portion sizes and promote a positive atmosphere through customer service. Perform housekeeping duties, clean working areas, and replenish serving lines between periods. Complete administrative tasks including inputting sales, posting deposits, backing up computers, and managing student records. Communicate with parents regarding account status and assist with inventory ordering. Work on a rotating basis in the kitchen and at the register, standing for extended periods throughout the shift.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a TEAM player
- Must be able to pass the state-required background check and fingerprinting to work in NJ schools
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to twist, bend, and move freely
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to interact successfully with customers and Nutri-Serve employees
- Ability to maintain a caring attitude towards children
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working in food service
- Knowledge of food preparation
