Job Summary

Food Services Manager oversees the school cafeteria and lunch program within the Catholic school's framework, ensuring compliance with health guidelines, USDA standards, and Archdiocese requirements. The role includes supervising cafeteria staff and volunteers, planning menus, maintaining inventory and records for the Federal Lunch Program, coordinating with administration, and ensuring safe, quality food service operations within the school environment. Requires strong communication, food safety certification, physical stamina, and the ability to work collaboratively in a faith-based educational setting.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Handler's certificate
  • Meets state and local health regulations, as required
  • Ability to maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Ability to pass Criminal Record Background Clearance with no exemptions
  • Maintain good physical health with the ability to perform job duties, lift 50 pounds, move quickly, bend, squat, kneel, sit on floor, reach overhead
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members, to accept supervision and to help promote a positive environment
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including clear speech enunciation, and accurate spoken English grammar that can serve as a good model for children who are developing their language skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to present to groups and individuals about the organization's mission
  • Have a positive and supportive attitude toward the Catholic Church, her teachings and her work; refrain from public promotion or approval of any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic Doctrine or morals
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and verbally
  • Able to work well with others in the school community
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format
  • Skill in job appropriate technology
  • Skill in critical thinking and planning
  • Good people skills are essential as the person who works in this position works around children and with others as a team
  • Capable of receiving and following instructions
  • A self-starter, capable of independent work
  • Must meet all requirements to pass a background check

  • Solid computer skills and ability to manage and report data accurately and efficiently
  • Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities
  • Must complete all classes/seminars as directed by St. John the Evangelist Catholic School and the Archdiocese of Denver
  • Knowledge of and menu prep specific for food allergies
