Job Summary
Portion and serve meals, assist with food production by washing produce, and prepare coffee, toast, desserts, and sandwiches. Measure and combine ingredients using methods such as grinding, blending, slicing, and pureeing. Check patient meals for dietary accuracy, strip wagons, wash dishes and equipment, and clean kitchen areas. Sweep floors, remove garbage, deliver trays to units, and replenish food and paper supplies. Perform related clerical duties, operate cash registers, and answer customer queries. This role supports the Patient Food Service team at Banfield Pavilions in Vancouver, BC, within a client and family-centered model of care.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 10 plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Food Safe Certificate Level 1
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to organize work
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check
- all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections
