Job Summary
Supervise inmate labor and team members during food preparation and service shifts in the kitchen. Prepare, assist, or instruct staff in cooking and serving meals according to assigned menus, recipes, and work instructions while utilizing proper kitchen equipment. Ensure all food is stored and handled in a sanitary manner, following strict food safety regulations for sanitation and storage. Serve food during scheduled meal times and maintain a clean work environment by cleaning refrigerators, cooking equipment, floors, and performing dishwashing duties. Train other food service workers and promote a healthy, safe environment for employees and inmates. This role requires standing for extended periods and includes weekend and holiday availability.
Required Qualifications
- Must be available to work some weekends and holidays
- High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to lift, bend, push, kneel, walk, and stand for extended periods of time
- Be able to stand and be on your feet for much of the scheduled shift
- Must follow facility uniform policy
Desired Qualifications
- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred
