Job Summary

Prepare specials according to tally list and transport hot and cold food to and from the dining room safely. Stock and rotate products using the FIFO method, ensure the cooler is stocked and clean, and empty garbage and compost bins. Assist the cook with kitchen duties, portion meals including dietary options, and transport dirty and clean dishes between areas. Clean dining areas and equipment, keep simple records, and participate in daily stand-up meetings. Perform other duties as assigned while adhering to food safety practices and work practices.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Food Safe Level 1
  • WHMIS
  • Up to 1 year of institutional kitchen experience or equivalent
  • Understanding of food safety practices
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Team spirit with a resident-focused attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to work positively and communicate effectively
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening
  • Required to lift more than 20 pounds
