Job Summary
Prepare and serve meals to students following USDA guidelines while handling cash transactions and operating the point-of-sale system. Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen environments, including equipment and utensils, adhering to food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices. Adhere to assigned schedules and complete cleaning tasks, performing other duties as directed by the Nutrition Services Manager or Assistant Manager. This role supports K-12 schools throughout the Charleston, SC area, including Mt. Pleasant, James Island, and Johns Island. Selected candidates must provide proof of a negative TB test and pass a background check prior to starting work.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform kitchen duties
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Good communication skills
- Customer service oriented with a positive attitude
- Ability to handle cash transactions
- Ability to learn to use a POS system
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to provide proof of a negative TB test prior to starting work
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in food service, cafeteria operations, or a similar role
- Food Handler certification
