Job Summary
Assemble patient meals accurately according to diet orders, measure food portions, and prepare drinks to appropriate consistency. Deliver meals, snacks, or supplies to patients, nurses, or nourishment rooms, and prepare catering orders as needed. Receive and store product deliveries using the "First In, First Out" method, inspect goods, and organize new products in proper locations. Stock assigned areas, clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and work surfaces, wash dishes, and label food with use-by dates. Record assigned data regarding temperatures and pH levels, work the cash register, and assist in training new employees. Requires a Food Handler's Card and at least six months of food service experience in a healthcare facility or restaurant.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- At least 6 months of food service experience in a health care facility or 6 months restaurant experience
- Food Handler's Card required or obtain within 90 days of employment
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
- Gathers and analyzes information skillfully
- Develops alternative solutions
- Demonstrates service oriented behaviors that includes culturally sensitive good manners, respect, and polite communications
- Demonstrates openness to creative and innovative approaches to providing service
- Maintains confidentiality
- Treats co-workers, patients, and facility visitor with respect
- Be able to stand for long periods of time
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic nutrition is desirable
