Job Summary
Prepare and serve meals to students and staff while performing routine cleaning within the kitchen and cafeteria. Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing kitchen equipment use, including wearing appropriate safety gear and complying with the school division's chemical hygiene program. Implement HACCP protocols and maintain familiarity with VDH requirements and regulations. Obtain or hold ServeSafe Food Handler Certification. Coordinate work with the principal and supervisor while performing other related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Knows and understands all cafeteria tasks
- Recognizes and understands all VDH requirements and regulations
- Holds or be willing to obtain ServeSafe Food Handler Certification
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Ability to describe orally or in writing the preparation of meals, cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure
- Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedule set forth by supervisor(s)
- Works in school cafeteria and school building environments
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals
- High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service desirable
