Job Summary
Prepare and serve appetizing, nutritious meals and refreshments for patients and cafeteria while maintaining high sanitation standards. Follow recipes and production sheets to produce meals appropriate for all diet types, stock and rotate goods, and keep the servery and dining areas clean. Cross-train on multiple jobs, assist others as needed, and deliver patient trays in a timely and courteous manner. Operate the cash register, handle payments, and interact professionally with hospital visitors, patients, and staff. Adhere to hospital dress and personal hygiene standards and comply with HIPAA regulations. Follow C.A.R.E.S. standards—Communication, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, Safety—and participate in immunization requirements. The role requires strong teamwork, the ability to read and follow both verbal and written instructions, and a willingness to learn production requirements for patient diets.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous food service experience in hospital, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation facility is preferred
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to learn tray line and production requirements of all diets
- Ability to understand basic principles of sanitation and food handling
- Ability to operate a cash register and make correct change
