Job Summary
Prepare food items by rinsing, peeling, slicing, dicing, weighing, and measuring ingredients while following standardized recipes to ensure accurate portioning. Wrap, label, and store food according to safety guidelines, maintaining proper temperatures and portion control standards. Serve customers efficiently, providing information on menu items, ingredients, and availability while cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, and utensils. Monitor and escalate customer concerns to management as needed, adhering to all food safety, sanitation, and service standards. This onsite per diem role at The Brigham and Women's Hospital requires 2-3 years of direct food service experience and operates on a rotating weekly schedule.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2-3 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of role
- Knowledge of food service operations, including line setup and temperature control
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, presentation, and quality standards
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with accuracy
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and kitchen tools
- Ability to lift and handle heavy items as needed
- Basic understanding of inventory control and supply management
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
- Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements
- Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards
