Job Summary
Prepare nutritious meals and snacks based on menus approved by a licensed dietician, while planning special occasions, events, and holidays. Maintain food storage and kitchen compliance with DOHMH and agency guidelines through regular inventory, proper rotation, and organized areas. Serve meals, clean service areas, and accept deliveries with dated labels. Perform all food and supply orders, maintain recipe records, and uphold the agency Code of Conduct. Accept responsibility for critical services during emergencies including weather events or pandemics. Culturally competent work with diverse populations including those with HIV, substance use, or mental illness.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food handling certificate
- Experience in commercial or institutional food preparation
- Must be culturally competent and comfortable working with different populations (HIV, substance use, mental illness, and other populations)
- Knowledge of proper nutrition and food storage
- Knowledge of proper sanitation rules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time, organize and multi-task
- Ability to maintain a safe and controlled environment
- Ability to apply training to their work
- Exhibits proficient knowledge of Internet Navigation, E-mail, and Microsoft Word
