Food Service Worker

Job Summary
Assist patients with menu selection, deliver meals, and coordinate food preparation, serving, and delivery while maintaining kitchen sanitation and dishwashing standards. Monitor patient dietary restrictions by communicating with nursing and dietetics staff to ensure nutritional requirements are met. Plan food production, manage floor stock, and rotate inventory while ensuring all items are accounted for. Clean and sanitize kitchen, serving, and dining areas, including operating a three-compartment sink and maintaining proper chemical levels. Perform cashier functions for sales and reconciliation, inventory supplies, and transport soiled carts between units. Maintain temperatures of hot and cold food during delivery and document food intake and patient response. Adhere to Health, OSHA, and HIPAA policies while providing excellent customer service to patients and families.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Prior professional cooking experience
- Knowledge of commercial food preparation and handling technique
- Prior kitchen sanitation experience
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices
- Skills to effectively operate cash register or cash handling computer system
- Must comprehend and ensure all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policies are followed regarding protected health information of patients/residents
- Adherence to the Facility's Emergency Preparedness Program
- Adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) programs
- Adherence to other mandatory programs in the facility
