Job Summary
Set tables and prepare dining rooms for food service, serving hot and cold meals according to dietary instructions. Deliver, collect, and unload meal wagons while making beverages and assembling food items like sandwiches and salads. Wash, peel, and store vegetables and fruit; strip, rack, and wash trays, dishes, and utensils using dishwashing machines. Maintain cleanliness of food service areas by sweeping, damp-mopping, and spot-washing floors, counters, and equipment. Store incoming supplies and restock dietary items in kitchens and dining room services. Perform special catering duties as required, including food tray assembly and juice dispensation.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Food Safe Level I
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Ability to organize work
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
