Job Summary
Operate commercial dish machines, scrape and scrub cookware, sort trays, and manually clean pots and pans in a three-compartment sink. Sterilize kitchen equipment, sweep designated areas, and manage waste separation by emptying containers and transporting them to receptacles. Retrieve soiled carts from patient units, deliver clean carts to hospital units, and clean food service equipment. Support overall kitchen and meal service operations at the Vancouver VA Medical Center. U.S. citizenship and a current Food Handler Certificate are required.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen
- Current Food Handler Certificate from: ServSafe, or ANAB-accredited / ANSI-approved program
- Subject to a background/suitability investigation
- Employment reference checks
- Completed physical examination prior to starting
- A complete application package
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs of force
