Job Summary
Food Service Worker 2 at UW Dining leads a team of student and hourly staff in a high-volume, onsite dining environment. Responsibilities include food preparation (paring fruits/vegetables, reheating soups, assembling sandwiches/salads, toasting bread, beverages, grab-and-go items), operating a grill or fryer (may act as short order cook), setting up stations, stocking/restocking, rotating supplies, taking inventory using CBORD FSS, and maintaining cleanliness. Leadership duties involve assigning staff to stations to meet production and service needs, and may involve leading a platform or café. Emphasized duties also include cleaning, sanitation, proper handling and storage of unused food, and adherence to food handling policies. Schedule details note 9-month or 11.5-month cycles with shifts discussed during interviews; 100% onsite with no remote work eligibility. Minimum qualifications require Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment and one year of food/beverage experience (with substitutions allowed where legally permissible). The program operates across UW Dining facilities and emphasizes student-focused service and inclusive community space. Required Qualifications
- Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
- one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage
- Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration
