Job Summary
Organize inmate labor in accordance with company and client policies to prepare all menu items for the inmate or resident population while monitoring detainee behavior in the kitchen. Assist in planning menus, preparing bulk quantities of food with portion control, and arranging food in an appetizing manner. Maintain sanitary conditions and ensure compliance with health department rules and regulations, including food handler certificates. Assist with food and supplies inventory and confirm that food delivery invoices are accurate. Perform other duties as assigned. Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and good visual and auditory acuity.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Good visual and auditory acuity for monitoring safety and cleanliness of food services area
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment
- Experience working with a resident/inmate population
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
