Job Summary
Commissary Technician responsible for the preparation and serving of student meals and snacks, maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace, accurate portioning, temperature/sanitation checks, and documentation. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a Certified Professional Food Manager certification (or ability to obtain by the start of the second school term); bilingual Spanish/English preferred; 5-hour shifts within a ten-month SEIU-position in Food & Nutrition Services with potential early opening/closing duties. Strong customer service, time management, and ability to work independently across production and packaging areas are essential. Must hold or obtain a State of Illinois Food Handler card within 30 days if not current. Starting hourly rate is $16.49.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Professional Food Manager Certification (CPFM) required; certification must be obtained by start of second school term
- State of Illinois Food Handler card (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
- Bilingual - Spanish/English preferred
- Experience in a commercial kitchen preferred
- Excellent customer service
- Proficiency in time management, organization, and multi-tasking
- Ability to complete required daily written documentation and communicate verbally
- Possess or obtain CPFM certification by term start
- Must wear uniform, hair covering, safety shoes; maintain sanitation standards
