Job Summary
Prepare foods, salads, and desserts; cook/bake a variety of items for meals and meet diet orders in a state hospital/school facility. Responsibilities include supplying units with meat, fish or fowl as ordered, cleaning and preparing foods with knives and kitchen equipment (ovens, steamers), operating a dishwasher, transporting and delivering trays, defrosting and cleaning refrigerators, and maintaining clean, sanitary work areas. The role also involves directing the work of food service personnel, applying knowledge of sanitation standards and proper food storage, and following written and oral instructions to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
Required Qualifications
- one year of experience in a commercial or institutional food service or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of vocational or technical school training in food preparation for the required experience
