Job Summary
The Food Service Manager oversees all kitchen operations at The Goddard School, planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with approved menus, nutritional guidelines, and health and safety standards. Responsibilities include food ordering and inventory management, maintaining sanitation and food safety procedures, ensuring meals are prepared on schedule and meet dietary requirements, managing records of purchases and meal counts, coordinating with teachers and administrators on children’s dietary needs, and supporting health inspections and licensing visits. The role also involves supervising kitchen staff, communicating with school leadership about menu planning and inventory, and providing exceptional customer service to families and staff regarding nutrition and meal-related concerns.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food Service Manager Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety certification preferred
- Previous experience in food service, school nutrition programs, childcare centers, healthcare facilities, or commercial kitchens preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices
- Experience managing inventory and food ordering
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
