Job Summary
Food Service Manager leads the Food Service Department at The Village Seniors Community in Ontario, ensuring safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals aligned with individual dietary needs while complying with regulatory standards. Responsibilities include planning and organizing dietary services, supervising and motivating dietary staff, ensuring Public Health and safety requirements, maintaining records and menus, budgeting and food costs, and collaborating with residents, families, staff, and professionals to support resident care and satisfaction. Requires leadership, strong communication, infection control and food safety knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, unionized long-term care environment.
Required Qualifications
- Current membership with the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management (C.S.N.M.) or the College of Dietitians of Ontario required.
- Minimum 2 years dietary management experience in a long-term care setting.
- Strong leadership skills to direct the work of employees.
- Superb organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience managing employees within a unionized setting.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles, and legislation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Customer-focused with a high emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients.
- Flexibility to participate in the manager on-call rotation schedule.
- A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of hire date.
- Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months.
