Job Summary
Oversee daily production and service of nutritious meals in accordance with USDA, state, and local guidelines while supervising, training, and scheduling kitchen staff. Develop menus meeting nutritional standards and dietary restrictions, manage inventory and food costs, and ensure full compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. Maintain accurate records for meal counts and purchasing, operate kitchen equipment, and collaborate with administration on special events and nutrition initiatives. Promote a positive cafeteria environment through effective communication with students, parents, vendors, and school staff. Requires current ServSafe certification, strong leadership skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree in Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, Hospitality, Nutrition, or a related field
- Previous experience in institutional food service, school nutrition, restaurant management, or commercial kitchen operations
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Knowledge of USDA School Nutrition Program requirements, food safety regulations, and sanitation standards
- Ability to maintain accurate records and manage inventory and purchasing
- Ability to meet all applicable state, district, and school employment requirements, including successful completion of required background checks
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, Hospitality, Nutrition, or a related field
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Current ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
