Job Summary
Lunch Server position responsible for preparing and serving attractive and nutritious meals in a school food service setting. Duties include setting up serving line, serving food sanitarily and efficiently, monitoring food temperatures, preparing food for special diets, maintaining cleanliness and safety, following district SOPs and health/food service regulations, and participating in general kitchen cleaning. Requires one year of institutional or home cooking experience, ability to follow directions, relate positively to students and staff, operate kitchen tools/equipment, maintain cleanliness, and adhere to health and safety standards. The role is based in Burlington, IA, with a typical schedule of 2 hours per day, 176 days per year, at $14.53 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- One year of experience in home cooking or institutional cooking
- Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician at the beginning of employment and as required by law
- Knowledge of and ability to follow standard operating procedures of the district, local, state, and federal health/food service regulations
- Ability to follow oral and/or written directions or instructions
- Ability to relate with students, public, and other employees in a positive manner
- Ability to operate tools and equipment as assigned
- Aptitude for high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, and safety for successful completion of tasks
