Job Summary
Coordinate dietary services with Nursing, Housekeeping, and Social Services to ensure quality nutritional services and maintain a clean, safe, sanitary environment. Assist staff in developing policies, procedures, and comprehensive dietary plans of care that identify resident needs, goals, and required special equipment. Process diet changes from nursing services, schedule assessments for committee meetings, and review care plans quarterly. Inspect food storage and utility areas for supply control while ensuring personnel competency in kitchen equipment maintenance and sanitation. Provide substitute foods for residents who refuse meals and identify tasks involving potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Certified Dietary Manager
- Must possess, a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be a graduate of an accredited course in dietetic training, approved by the American Dietetic Association
- Must have, as a minimum, 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other related medical facility
- Must have training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc.
- Must be registered as a Food Service Director in this state
- Must be knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures as well as the state law, regulations, and guidelines governing dietary functions in the long-term care facility
