Job Summary
Food Service Coordinator (SFA Liaison) within Elko County School District. Primary liaison between the School District (acting as the School Food Authority) and the contracted Food Service Management Company, ensuring compliance with NSLP/SBP regulations, overseeing vendor performance, and maintaining regulatory authority over district food service operations. Role entails USDA benefits administration, eligibility verification, annual verification of Free and Reduced-Price Meal applications, on-site reviews of meal counting and claiming systems, corrective action follow-ups, contract monitoring, signature authority on state agreements and reimbursement claims, and regular travel for on-site reviews across district schools over a 178-day/academic-year schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in school foodservice operations, school business administration, or contract management
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with USDA Child Nutrition Programs (NSLP, SBP) and state agency regulations is highly preferred
- Analytical Skills: Ability to audit financial documents, cross-reference data, and interpret complex federal regulations
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for navigating relationships between district leadership, parents/guardians, state auditors, and FSMC management
- Attention to Detail: High precision in record-keeping, data verification, and meeting strict regulatory deadlines
- Travel: Regular travel between various school sites within the district to perform mandatory on-site reviews
- Environment: Split between a standard office environment and school cafeteria/kitchen environments
