Job Summary
Plan menus, order supplies, and prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily for center children, after-school students, and summer camp participants. Coordinate food service with program activities, supervise staff on kitchen sanitation, and maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment. Ensure all food is stored, labeled, and prepared safely while monitoring equipment and securing areas at day's end. Maintain detailed records for the Health Department, licensing agencies, and the YWCA regarding purchases, donations, and meals served. Assist teachers with special cooking activities and participate in required nutritional education and training. Work under moderate noise levels, lift up to 50 pounds, and adhere to state health requirements and background checks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- One (1) year of relevant food service work experience
- Ability to meet health requirements set forth by State licensing agencies
- Visual acuity permits the reading of labels, recipes, and other documents, to monitor food preparation and to assure safety and cleanliness in the food service environment
- Auditory acuity is sufficient to monitor alarms and signals in the food service environment
- Ability to communicate with children and staff during routine and emergencies
- Ability and willingness to increase skills and competence through formal and on-the-job training
- Ability to work well with others, as well as to work independently
- Work: around moderate noise levels, and can lift, push, or carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
