Job Summary
Food Service Cook at Kensington Elementary Kitchen supports School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs by preparing, cooking, assembling, and serving nutritious meals according to approved recipes and production schedules. Responsibilities include following portion controls and USDA meal pattern guidelines, preparing a variety of foods (fruits, vegetables, salads, sandwiches, baked goods, hot entrées), ensuring attractive presentation, handling receiving and rotating supplies, assisting with catering and meal service, performing cashiering and POS duties when assigned, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards (USDA, HACCP, sanitation). Requires ServSafe certification (or within 60 days), ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment, and willingness to travel to district buildings and attend trainings; strong customer service mindset and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required Qualifications
- ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days)
- Experience in food service preferred
- Knowledge of USDA meal pattern guidelines
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- English communication skills
