Job Summary
The Food Service Worker for U.S.VETS oversees the day-to-day cleanliness and maintenance of the server line and prepares simple items (sandwiches, toast, coffee) while ensuring sanitation, health, and safety standards. Responsibilities include operating the food service line, setting up and serving meals to meet funder/ client nutritional requirements, supervising Veteran helpers at workstations, assisting with packaging/ loading food for U.S.VETS functions, cleaning and storing dishes and equipment, and performing related tasks. May perform baking duties as needed. Requires collaboration with residents, staff, and community members and adherence to safe food-handling procedures. Driver license and Health Card are required.
Required Qualifications
- Three to six months in food handling preferred
- Experience working with homeless veterans preferred
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of residents, staff, and community members
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Must possess State Food Handlers Health Card
- Must be knowledgeable of food handling procedures and protocols
- Driver license with no violations on driving record for past 3 years required
