Job Summary
Prepare and serve daily menu items in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner while following standardized recipes to ensure best quality in flavor and appearance. Accurately serve correct portions, maintain production records, and verify reimbursable meals meet requirements. Record monetary transactions, count and balance the cash drawer, and check food temperatures in refrigerators and freezers. Set up and break down serving lines, operate equipment safely, and assist with receiving food shipments and inventory. Perform detailed cleaning of equipment and storerooms, report faulty equipment, and maintain accurate Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) records. Serve students in a friendly, courteous manner while promoting school breakfast and lunch programs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified in basic sanitation through Safe Food Handlers or National Restaurant Association
- Certification of Tuberculosis-free
- Complete six (6) hours of continuing education/training annually as required by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to operate a computer
- Ability to utilize basic math skills
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to handle extreme temperatures
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and confidentiality on sensitive issues
- Ability to apply common sense to solve occasional problems
- Calm demeanor for handling stressful situations
- Maintain clean, neat appearance, including uniform and apron
- Good vision

- Good communication skills
