Job Summary
Food Safety Specialist to support and execute food safety programs across growing regions in CA and AZ, focusing on ensuring compliance with FSMA, GMP, HACCP, GAP, LGMA, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include implementing programs, conducting routine GMP inspections, leading training sessions and internal audits, coordinating third-party audits, preparing facilities for inspections, performing risk assessments for ranches and harvest crews, coordinating environmental sampling, maintaining chain-of-custody documentation, and supporting traceability and corrective actions. Role is 70% facility/cooler environment and 30% field, with travel regionally; bilingual English/Spanish required. Requires 2–3+ years in food safety/QA/regulatory compliance, a degree in a related field, PCQI certification, and willingness to travel; located in or able to operate in California (primarily Fresno area) with relocation support available.
Required Qualifications
- 2–3+ years of experience in food safety, QA, or regulatory compliance (produce or food manufacturing preferred)
- Degree or background in food science, biology, or related field
- PCQI certification required; PSR preferred
- Strong knowledge of GMP, GAP, HACCP, LGMA, and FDA/USDA standards
- Experience with audits, inspections, and recall/traceability processes is a plus
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Valid California driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle
- Willingness to travel regionally (up to one week at a time as needed)
- Ability to work across multiple growing regions (Salinas, Oxnard, Santa Maria, Yuma, etc.)
