Food Safety & Quality Assurance Technologist

Job Summary
Quality Verification and HACCP-driven QA in a meat-processing environment. Conduct routine inspections (process, metal detection, cooking, chilling) to ensure products meet quality standards, identify out-of-spec items, and collaborate to implement corrective actions. Drive continual quality improvements by addressing deficiencies, reviewing specifications, and supporting QA programs. Enforce HACCP and USDA regulatory requirements across the production process, assist with sanitation checks, and maintain documentation. Support plant training, communicate findings and corrective actions, and be prepared to step in for key personnel as needed. The role emphasizes collaboration with production teams to resolve issues, monitor critical control points, and ensure safe, high-quality products from Smithfield and its brands.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Knowledge of quality assurance principles, food science, meat processing, and USDA regulations
- Ability to create, interpret, and maintain technical documents/reports
- Experience with monitoring equipment and data analysis
- Effective written and verbal communication across teams
- Proficient in office software and ability to follow written, oral, and visual instructions
- Associate’s degree, preferred
