Food Safety Quality Assurance Technician - Contract

Job Summary
Monitor food safety, GMP, and HACCP requirements on the production floor while initiating immediate corrective actions and escalating concerns. Perform daily monitoring, verification, and microbiological sampling tasks to ensure products meet quality standards, then analyze data to recommend improvements. Conduct product audits, prepare sensory samples, and provide coaching to employees and management to advance QA systems. Participate in meetings focused on enhancing food safety and quality while assisting in the implementation of program changes. This 12-month contract role requires a University degree in Food Science or related disciplines, 1-2 years of technical food manufacturing experience, and strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma preferably in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or a related discipline or applicable experience
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a technical role at a food manufacturing facility
- Proven ability to analyze data and provide recommendations
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Superior systems skills (including MS Office)
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and teach others
- Proven alignment to the Maple Leaf Leadership Values
