Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician

Job Summary
Monitor Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs and inspection/audit procedures to ensure compliance of products and processes with corporate and regulatory requirements at a Sysco Specialty Meat and/or Seafood facility. Responsibilities include monitoring HACCP, sanitation SOPs, pest control, GMPs, approved supplier program, foreign material control, plant sanitation, chemical control, product quality assurance, FSQA customer complaints, and supporting employee training; assist in implementing SQF audits; assist with product evaluations, plant visits, and supplier/customer communications; provide support during emergencies as directed by plant leadership. Skills include strong written communication, data interpretation, basic mathematics for measurements, ability to use lab and office equipment, and the ability to work in refrigerated production environments; physical demands include lifting up to 100 pounds and regular exposure to industrial environments. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (CFIA/FDA) and quality systems is preferred; valid driver’s license required.
Required Qualifications
- Formal job training in TQM principles, SPC, HACCP concepts, CFIA/FDA regulations would be beneficial
- Formal quality and sensory analysis training would be helpful
- One to 3 years of meat and/or seafood industry experience at a federal CFIA/FDA meat and/or seafood processing plant (as appropriate)
- Valid driver’s license
