Job Summary
Support breakfast and lunch service from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. by preparing and serving nutritious meals while creating additional menu options that complement the Food Security Hub. Lead and support staff and volunteers in the newly renovated Teen Center kitchen, ensuring teens have access to high-quality, appealing, and nourishing food in a welcoming environment. Manage large-group meal preparation with strong organizational and kitchen management skills while exercising sound judgment in fast-paced situations. This hybrid role between the Food Security Hub & Joe's Place Youth Shelter requires a commitment to serving individuals experiencing homelessness with dignity and respect.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience in food service and commercial kitchen operations
- Experience preparing meals for large groups in a commercial kitchen
- Strong organizational and kitchen management skills
- Ability to lead and support staff and volunteers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Commitment to serving individuals experiencing homelessness and/or living in poverty with dignity and respect
- Understanding of social, economic, and food justice issues
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and remain calm in fast-paced or stressful situations
- Full-time schedule (40 hour/week)
- Hourly rate of pay of $24.64
Desired Qualifications
- Culinary education or formal culinary training
