Job Summary
Manage all phases of food bank operations including acquisition, maintenance, and distribution of food in coordination with the Director of Operations. Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, walkie stackers, and pallet jacks to unload donations, weigh inventory, and store food according to FEFO standards. Train and supervise volunteers on equipment use, food handling, and shift check-ins while maintaining a clean, safe environment for customers and staff. Handle customer interactions with respect, drive between locations using Nourish vehicles, and manage inventory reporting and temperature logs. Float between all Nourish locations including the warehouse as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to perform basic math skills
- Must be able to read, write and communicate orally in English
- Must have a valid Washington State Driver's license
- Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and periodic drug screening
- Must be able to bend, stoop, sit and lift overhead
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a repeated basis
- Must be able to sit or stand for four or five hours at a time
- Must be able to communicate detailed information clearly in person, in writing, by phone, and by email
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to successfully pass a Washington State Patrol Background Check
- Current food handler's permit or within 2 weeks of hire
- Must be able to reliably travel to required work locations
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet Nourish Pierce County's requirements for authorized drivers
Desired Qualifications
- Forklift experience or certification preferred
- Knowledge of food bank operations preferred
- Ability to manage incoming food donations, volunteers, and back end of food bank operations simultaneously
