Job Summary
Process FOIA requests from cradle to grave by reviewing incoming inquiries, locating responsive records, and determining dispositions through established procedures. Manage timely responses to public and stakeholder inquiries while applying exemptions, proposing redactions, and ensuring PII protection. Coordinate complex requests across NESDIS and NOAA offices, resolve discrepancies, and recommend policy improvements. Maintain the FOIA tracking database, archive records, and compile reports summarizing requests for management approval. Conduct independent research and review information packages for accuracy before submission.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, information management, contracting, or law
- Two or more years as FOIA Specialist supporting Federal agencies
- Four or more years as Procurement Analyst or FOIA Specialist supporting Federal agencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Knowledge of FAR, FOIA, FOIA Exemptions, and Privacy Act
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex FOIA issues
- Experience with FOIA documentation, reviewing contract files, and handling sensitive information
- Must be motivated and have excellent customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- A highly motivated self-starter
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of Veritas eDiscovery Platform (aka Clearwell), FOIAXpress, and Adobe
