Job Summary
Direct serving staff and ensure departmental standards for service are met in assigned dining rooms and catering events under the direction of the Culinary Department. Manage operations to align with guidelines set forth by the Culinary Department while maintaining knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations. Obtain Serv Safe Safety and Sanitation Certification within the first six months and demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, and visitors. This role supports Pennswood Village, a nationally recognized retirement community in Newtown, PA, within the Culinary Department.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or in process
- Serv Safe Safety and Sanitation Certification required and/or received within the first 6 months of accepting the position
- Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
- Knowledge of food service equipment and cleaning agents
- Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with residents, staff, and visitors
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, i.e., standing, bending, stooping, and lifting 25 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- One year of experience in the food service industry is preferable
- Knowledge of computers desirable, with emphasis on word processing programs
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and departmental software as required
