Job Summary
Foal Watch Attendant required for night shifts during the foaling season at Westbury Stud, Matamata, NZ. Monitor mares near foaling, identify signs of imminent foaling, assist with foalings and emergencies, provide post-foaling care to mares and foals, administer medications and treatments, maintain clean, safe stabling areas, feed and water horses, move mares and foals between paddocks and stables, and record observations while communicating with the wider team. Shifts available 4:00 PM – Midnight and Midnight – 8:00 AM, season from early August to late November. Role is outdoors and involves walking paddocks in all weather. Training provided for trainees; open to various experience levels. Must have genuine interest in horses and animal care, ability to work independently, remain alert during shifts, and possess good observation and communication skills. Previous stud, veterinary or foaling experience is advantageous but not essential. Valid NZ work rights required.
