Job Summary
Directs hospital food and nutrition services operations, partnering with the Executive Director to develop and execute a strategic plan aligned with Rush’s mission, values, and goals. Oversees menu planning and nutrient analysis using appropriate software, develops an Emergency Preparedness plan, and manages unit budgets and staffing, including HR functions (hiring, onboarding, performance appraisal) and diversity initiatives. Maintains liaison with medical center departments, drives satisfaction metrics, mentors Dietetic Internship students, grows the retail food program to expand revenue, and coordinates conference center events while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. Requires a Masters (or equivalent advanced experience) in Food/Nutrition or related field, with leadership experience in a fast-paced food environment; certifications in sanitation and allergen management are required within 4 months of hire; supervisory and reporting skills (including PowerPoint) are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Masters of Science Degree in Food and Nutrition, Food Systems Management, or Hospitality Management or a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 15 years of relevant work experience
- Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist Preferred
- City of Chicago Sanitation Certification and Allergen Certification required within 4 months of hire
- Five years or more years of operations, financial management, and leadership experience working in a fast paced food environment required
- Self-directed, strong interpersonal skills (both verbal and written), excellent organizational skills, problem identification and solving skills, and conflict resolution
- Ability to compile and summarize management reports and implement power point presentations required
