Job Summary
Lay out, fit up, tack, fabricate, grind, clean, and weld large ASME pressure vessels and steel tanks using Flux Core (FCAW) welding with .045 dual-shield wire. Perform primarily vertical uphill welding on heavy plate materials while maintaining precise fit-up with typical gaps averaging 1/8". Interpret fabrication drawings, AWS weld symbols, and WPS requirements to assemble nozzles, manways, vessel heads, and couplings. Complete 3G vertical uphill plate tests and dissimilar-metal weld evaluations to ASME standards. This role involves building vessels ranging from 10 to 12 feet in diameter for manufacturing projects across the United States on 3- to 6-month contracts.
Required Qualifications
- Flux Core (FCAW) welding experience
- Strong fabrication and fit-up experience
- Ability to weld in the vertical uphill position
- Experience performing multi-pass welds
- Ability to read blueprints, fabrication drawings, and AWS weld symbols
- Experience following WPS requirements and welding procedures
- Experience using fabrication and layout tools including tape measures, squares, levels, punches, and weld gauges
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship
- Ability to work safely around large vessel assemblies and heavy components
