Job Summary

Lead the design, development, analysis, and testing of fluid systems for the second stage of the 9x4 New Glenn heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle. Engage in the full design cycle, including conceptual design, requirements definition, thermo-fluid modeling, structural layout, integration, and mission support. Design and route complex fluid subsystems for pressurization, pneumatics, and propellant utilization while managing suppliers through design, development, qualification, and delivery of flight hardware. Resolve system integration issues and lead component and system-level testing with data analysis. Apply project management skills for vendor management, scheduling, and budget tracking using tools like REFPROP, SINDA/FLUINT, Creo, and ANSYS.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
  • 3+ years experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid system component design or test
  • Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles in the detail design of aerospace or equivalent type fluid systems and components
  • Solid understanding of fluid components such as valves, pressure vessels, flex elements and fittings
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components
  • Working knowledge of materials and treatments
  • Experience troubleshooting fluids hardware
  • Good project management skills including vendor management, scheduling, and budget tracking
  • Experience with REFPROP, SINDA/FLUINT and Thermal Desktop or other fluid modeling software
  • Experience with 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS Preferred)
  • Ability to deliver completed designs using best draft practicing per ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards along with clear and well documented analysis reports
  • Passion for our mission and vision is required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Blue's Standard Background Check
  • Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training (if applicable)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with cryogenic helium, hydrogen and oxygen systems
  • Working knowledge of cryogenic material properties and testing
  • Experience with data acquisition systems
  • Experience with the application and use of welding, machining and non-destructive testing/inspection
