Job Summary
Senior VP and VP for Finance and Administration/CFO at Florida A&M University will serve as the principal fiscal administrator and strategic advisor to the President and Board of Trustees. The role oversees the Division of Finance and Administration including Financial Planning, Controller and Treasury Operations, Budgeting, Procurement Services, Human Resources, and related units; responsible for developing financial strategy, multi-year forecasting, debt capacity, liquidity, enterprise risk, and GAAP/GASB-compliant financial reporting. Key duties include leading annual operating budgets, enhancing business processes, leveraging technology, ensuring internal controls, and coordinating with senior leadership on academic resource planning, post-award grant financial compliance, and regulatory reporting; requires expertise in financial systems (e.g., ERP like Workday/PeopleSoft), data governance, analytics, and shared-service optimization. Strong leadership, staff development, and stakeholder collaboration across university leadership are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Licensed CPA preferred
- Higher education or public agency administration preferred; strong industry experience will also be considered
- Experience with federal and state regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience managing finances for a complex organization
- Strong financial planning and budget management skills
- Proven leadership and staff development experience
- Experience managing complex financial systems and data operations
