Job Summary
Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant facility by performing daily floor cleaning, weekly buffing and stripping, and auto scrubbing hallways and dining rooms. Execute minor repairs including cove base fixes, tile work, light bulb replacement, painting, and unit preparation for new residents. Follow proper chemical mixing techniques, conduct regular room inspections for sanitation and safety, and maintain all cleaning equipment and supplies. Notify supervisors regarding supply needs, budget requests, or additional training. Perform duties across all facility areas, including weekend work and emergency callbacks, while demonstrating care for residents, families, and co-workers.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge and prior use of burnisher, auto scrubber, side by side scrubber/water extraction
- Knowledge of application of wax products, strippers, cleaners, and other chemicals
- Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility
- General health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a mental and physical examination
- Sight/hearing senses, or use of prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 35 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
- Ability to work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary
- Ability to attend and participate in continuing educational programs
- Ability to be subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
- Ability to maintain a liaison with other department directors to adequately plan for food services/activities
- Ability to be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
- Ability to be subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants
- Ability to be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
